[Kirk had only arrived onto DS9 in the last few hours and already he was totally lost. He was trying to find his way on a space station that he'd been pulled into by some unknown anomaly. Also, this wasn't his time. This was the future.
He'd met a friendly young Lieutenant, who was a Trill, by the name of Ezri Dax. She had been most pleasant with him when he had materialised onto the Promenade in a blinding white flash. Now, he had somehow arranged to have dinner with the young Trill in an effort to get to know her and find out more about where he was. Of course, it was mostly about getting to know the young pretty girl. Kirk made his way to a bar called "Quark's" and settled down at an empty table. This was the right way to do things here in the future, right? The young Lieutenant would surely see that the man was out of his time.]

Date: 2020-02-23 06:52 pm (UTC)Quark? He's the guy with the, uh- big ears, right?
[He was careful to speak the last words quietly just in case their host heard him. Jim had never seen a Ferengi before so had no idea about the species in his time. In fact, there were so many new species within the bar that Kirk had a hard time trying to identify them all.]
I've never seen so many alien species all in one room before. It's really quite humbling.
[The Federation must have branched out all over the quadrant to find such species to trade with. It really was an accomplishment, which warmed Kirk's heart. He wondered what sort of drinks they served here.]
Do they serve Romulan ale here or is it still illegal in this century?

[She looks around as well and smiles, recognizing a few frequent visitors and a few off-duty officers.] It's amazing how far the Federation has come. And Deep Space Nine is a great place to really see that. Quark brings a lot of business alone if only because he was here even during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor.
[And then a look towards the bar-]
It is but Quark sometimes has a bit hidden away. We might be able to weasel a glass out of him, depending on how hard Odo has been on him lately.

Date: 2020-03-05 06:55 pm (UTC)The 2360's? That's almost eighty years into my future. It seems I have a long way to go to play catch up.
[He smirked and then watched Quark pour out some sort of green liquid and offer it to a mute alien with thick, grey skin. The alien seemed a regular just by the way the Ferengi acknowledged him as if he was a fixture.]
You're probably going to guess this but I have a lot of questions regarding all of this. Ferengi, Cardassians...these are all new words to me. As for the Romulan ale- do you think he'll offer me a glass?
[Kirk knew he shouldn't throw rank here, since this wasn't even his time.]
